Edison Chen gives up his usual Prince Charming roles in this film without heroes. With yellow-dyed hair and tanned skin, he plays Pang Jr., a Cambodian hitman accustomed to cruelty since childhood. He arrives in Hong Kong to kill a judges wife, but ends up abandoned in this unfamiliar city, shooting at whoever crosses his way. Sam Lee, known more for comedic characters in recent years, takes up the challenging role of Wai, a cop with an extreme personality. His anger explodes when Pang Jr. kills his colleagues one by one, and he becomes as inhumane as his opponent. Sichuanese actress Pei Wei Ying, best known for appearing in a cell phone commercial opposite Jay Chou a few years ago, plays the assassins newfound girlfriend. Her appearance signifies the only humanity that remains in the merciless hit man.

The story revolves around two cops, R and Noma, who hunt down renegade cyborgs. The cyborgs serve a number of duties, ranging from military cyborgs that serve as commandos to "dolls", female cyborgs engineered for companionship. They also have only a limited 3 year lifespan, although black market technology is being developed to transfer the cyborg's artificial intelligence into the mind of a human host. This breakthrough drives R into finding Cyon, a young fortune teller, who may serve as the host for the mind of his doll Ria, whom he has fallen deeply in love with and has only days to live. Eventually R must chose between leaving the colony with Ria to spend his last days with her on a paradise-like planet, or help save his friends when a renegade combat cyborg takes over the police headquarters.

Gu-chang is 30 years old, still in college, unemployed and leeches of his family. Worst yet, Gu-chang has never had a girlfriend or even kissed a girl before. His friends are aware of his situation and usually has Gu-chang appearing as the butt end of their jokes. Then one day, Gu-chang falls asleep on a subway, after a night of drinking. When he wakes up, he sees a girl that he mistakes for a ghost. The girl isn't a ghost, but works as an extra in a horror film. She's on her way home, after becoming ill on the set of the film. Gu-chang doesn't know this and immediately runs away from her. He drops his cellphone, which the girl picks up. They eventually do meet again, but in a more typical circumstance and seem to get along well. Even more remarkable for Gu-chang, is that the girl seems to take an interest in him. She introduces herself as "Anni" and thus, Gu-chang and Anni's budding romantic relationship begins. Unfortunately, when the couple spends an evening drinking, "Anni" suddenly takes a whole new personality, a rough talking brute like person that likes to fight. Gu-chang slowly comes to the realization that Anni suffers from multiple personalities.
